Frequently Asked questions

Dish00m pays tribute to the Irani cafés and the diverse cuisine of Bombay. Shamil Thakrar is the co-founder of Dishoom, one of the UK’s most successful Indian restaurant groups. Established in 2010, Dishoom has elevated the quality of affordable Indian cuisine in the UK, currently serving 40,000 diners each week and employing 900 people.

Indeed, the dining experience is quite enjoyable, with each restaurant’s interiors reflecting a unique local theme—whether it’s a station café (King’s Cross), a 1930s jazz bar (Kennington), or Freemason’s Hall (Manchester). However, one can’t shake the feeling that the backstories come across as somewhat contrived.

The next time you visit Dishoom, be sure to ask your host about the secret Matka key ring! To unlock the magic of the Matka, simply discreetly show your waiter the key ring after your meal, and a wooden board will magically appear, accompanied by a brass pot and a single die.
